BEN CORNELSEN On Monday, February 23, 2009, Ben (Bernard) Cornelsen died peacefully in his sleep at home in St. James at the age of 78. After surgery and radiation for prostate cancer in 1999/2000, Ben lived symptom-free until 2007 and was still out and about until this year. Ben is survived by his wife, Sibyl (nee Manson) of 41 years (November 25, 1967); three sisters, Marie Doerksen, Ann Doerksen, Helen Doerksen and their families - many caring nieces and nephews, cousins here and in the U.S. and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Isaac W. and Mary (nee Classen); sisters, Elizabeth Doerksen, Kathryn Doerksen and sadly last summer, brother Peter. Ben's memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, St. James. Special thanks to Dr. Schroeder of CancerCare and Palliative Care Nurse, Rachel.
